Hiii splashy readers I hope you are just as excited as I am at this moment in time. I am smiling as I type do you want to know why? Of course you do it is because I’m happyyyyyy!

Let’s reSPLASH about how I two stepped, chanted classic songs with The Autobahnanz’s a hipster polka band, enjoyed great appetizers and Bärenjäger drinks.

Last night the audience of The Bärenjäger 5th Annual National Bartender Competition were bear (not a typo) witnesses to greatness. The competition was held at The Flatiron Hall and as soon as you walked in the decor of the venue made you feel as if you were in Berlin with the Oktobear (pun intended) fest theme. For those of you reading who were not in attendance bear with me as I recap on the beehavior of the night. Haha ok I am done with the bear references for now.

From the savory appetizers that were served (Bavanan pretzels with Bärenjäger honey mustard, bacon wrapped shrimp, sausages and pork sliders) onto the ever so delightful props (top hats, beer mug headbands, bead necklaces, pretzel glasses and more). There was also a photo booth with the woods as a back drop and the main prop being a bear (nice touch) if I do say so myself.

The setup for this wonderful event was geared to the attendees to show appreciation and to help the 5 judges pick the Audience favorite cocktail. Whoop! There were 6 mixologist who made it to the final round out of the 450 mixologist who submitted to the competition from across the country. The judges included: Alex Guarnschelli (Iron Chef, Celebrity Chef and Author of Old School Comfort Food: The Way I learned to cook), Sean Kenyok (Tales of the Cocktail 2014 American Bartender of the Year Winner), Andrew Knowlton (Restaurant and Drink Editor of Bon Appétit Magazine), Gary Regan (Author of The Joy of Mixology and the host of gazregan.com) and Leo Robitschek (James Beard Award 2014 Outstanding Bar Program Winner).

Drum roll please the judges pick for the best cocktail in the Bärenjäger 5th Annual competition was Black Gold mixed by Megan Bardoe. The Audience favorite drink winner was Sorcerer mixed by Michael Powers. Congratulations to the winners and participants. I enjoyed all of the cocktails each cocktail had it’s very own unique flare. I enjoyed speaking to each one of you. Continue to keep the party going with your creations.

Overall, I had a wonderful time. Dancing the night away to the smooth tunes of The Autobahnanz band, meeting new people and engaging in conversation over food and drinks. Excellent showcase of the brand Bärenjäger and the hospitality of your staff was greatly appreciated. Covers eyes let’s do this again next year, YES!!! (Smiles)
