G.R.A.C.E 2nd Annual Back to School Bash

On Sunday, September 1, 2019, Gracie Cedres the CEO/Founder of G.R.A.C.E (Granting Resources And Community Enrichment) non-profit went above and beyond for Harlem scholars to ensure they are prepared for the school year. Her continuous strides, steadfast due diligence and hardwork within honoring the legacy of her grandmother placed her in the position to be recognized by Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York City.

Prior to this prestigious recognition on August 27, 2019 Gracie also was announced as a recipient of the Hershey’s Heartwarming Project Action Grant. This honor was awarded for implementing and taking the iniative to curate service based programming in the Harlem community.

The fun family filled day hosted activity stations such as: the slime station (a big hit with the kid’s), paint party, face painting by @zilladidit, giant Jenga and a fitness (tug of war, football, kickball and more). The goal of G.R.A.C.E Back to School Bash was to one alleviate parents from costly school supplies and to donate the necessary items to the scholars while celebrating them in the process.

G.R.A.C.E curated an event that provided families with food, entertainment, healthy snack options and crafts that kept a smile on the faces of many.

Harlem Cares 2nd Annual toy drive RECAP

On Sunday, December 14, 2014 The Harlem Cares Family (Yandy Smith, Original Housewife Collection, Pretty in Black Catering, EGL – Everything Girls Love and myself presented the 2nd Annual toy drive with The Winter Wonderland theme to the Harlem community. The event was held from 1pm to 5pm at The Kennedy Center *Thank you @billycharlem for providing the venue* (34 W 134th Street between Lenox and Fifth Avenue) in the effort to collect toys and coats from attendees to donate to deserving less fortunate families this year. This year differed from last year as we invited the adults to bring children for a day of fun filled activities, entertainment and food.

There were different stations set up to cater to the children of the families who donated toys filled with the amenities suitable for the stars of the day. The activities included:

KIDDIE BUFFET – chicken sliders, pizza, mac n cheese were provided by Mama Mias (@mamamias_)

Peanut butter and jelly sandwich squares, fruit kabobs and other bites were provided by Nelly’s Kitchen (@nellyskitchen)

The kids ate, danced, wrote letters to Santa, picked out books and much more. The turnout was great and everyone was overwhelmed with excitement as Yandy Smith arrived with her family along with her PUD Kimbella and her .

Lil Mandeecees shuffled the first raffle which was a bookbag with a tablet and headphones inside. The other raffles that were given away were: (2) $50 gift certificates to Don Coqui, a $50 credit for Uber car services, a $50 gift certificate to Poco NYC restaurant and a gift certificate to Ottomanelli’s. It was a great turn out and every year it will get BIGGER and BETTER because of YOU!!! What an amazing day. Thank you to everyone who supported the Harlem Cares 2nd Annual toy drive.
